These hellebores make me happy in the January garden. I’ve had to relocate them several times as conditions changed in our garden. They thrive in the shade. We used to have a lot of shade, but when PG&E took out a couple of trees the most of shade went with them. I transplanted them in the early fall, and most of them are flowering, like the ones you see here. They’re very easy to grow, and survive a lot of indignities.
