Flowers for a Pandemic is a collection of fifty-five floral mandalas, envisaged, created, and photographed by Carol Whitman in and around Point Reyes Station, California, where she lives. In 2020, in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic and other tumultuous events in the United States and the world, Carol began making botanical mandalas as a kind of daily meditation. She gathers materials from her own vibrant garden and those of her friends, and from the beaches and land surrounding her home. Using an old garden table as her canvas, she fashions the items into mandalas, photographs them, and share them on social media, establishing a calm base for her day and communicating a sense of beauty and peace to many others. This book, Flowers for a Pandemic is a labor of much love.
